I spent several weeks traveling overland from San Francisco all the way to the south of the Baja Peninsula, and I fell in love with the contradictions of Baja. It is at once desolate and teeming with life. The inland deserts are punctuated by lush oases that then give way to the warm Gulf of California - also known as the Sea of Cortez.
The Gulf has an abundance of underwater life, and I had the pleasure of camping on the beach and going diving in Cabo Pulmo National Park. It was incredible to swim with sea lions, manta rays, sharks and all kinds of other colorful fish. Dive away!
